Food Engineering

Program Overview:

Students interested in the production, processing, packaging, safety and/or transportation of the world’s food supply would be interested the food engineering specialization. In recent years, the food and nutrition sector has been witnessing a growing interest in the world in general and in Israel in particular. This interest is due to the significant increase in consumer awareness of the health aspects of food products, and the food industry in Israel and around the world allocates many resources in order to respond to human requirements and ensure a safe and healthy food supply while reducing environmental damage in production processes. Students who specialize in food engineering combine basic principles of engineering (fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transfer), math, and science (biology, chemistry, and physics) with advanced courses in food chemistry, microbiology, food processing operations, and engineering design.

Education path period is 2 years
